Cattle Egret

We are pleased to announce that at a private site in the county up to 2 pairs of Cattle Egret have successfully fledged 4 young. More details will be published shortly once parking/access arrangements have been organised. This represents the first breeding record for this species in Dorset and the only previous proven breeding in the country was of 2-3 pairs in Somerset in 2008. This year has also seen pairs breeding successfully in Cheshire (up to 3 pairs) and Somerset (5 pairs).
